I have been visiting usacomplaints. Coms for a long time, and now I am giving my own two cents.
I passed my resume on to a "company" called Catalyst Corporate Solutions (but they didn't state the name of their company on the website they advertised on). They stated that the position is for an Entry-Level Manager, and that fresh grads are desired. The compensation was $30,000-$45,000 a year, and I assumed it is according to experience.
They called me up within hours of my emailing them my resume. I went the next day for the first interview, filled out a bunch of paperwork, and questionnaires that ask you about what kinds of marketing are most effective in your opinion. Strangely enough, two of my answers were "NOT MLM" and "Misrepresentation of Product".
When it was my turn, a guy named Faress interviewed me, but it was a guy named Gil who called me up to schedule an interview. I was a bit confused about his questions, an example of which is "How do you take rejection?", because in their ad it says that it is not sales and that there is no face-to-face with clients, but you will be a Manager. He was very vague about the whole position, but kept telling me they had very presigious clients, like Qwest Communications. He told me I would be called if I was selected to come for a second interview, and that it would be 8am-5pm the next day. He said nothing about what the interview would consist of, and I assumed it would be held in the office. I couldn't help but wonder why it took so long.
All Faress could say is that they are very picky about who they hire because they are paranoid that a whole campaign would fall apart just because of one person.
They did call me up for a second interview, and so I dressed well and went right on time. Needless to say I was very alarmed and confused when they made me go out "on the field" with a guy working for them. He seemed nice and all, fun to talk to, but I felt very disappointed that they would not warn me in advance about what the "interview" was really about. We went about 30 miles south of Seattle and proceeded to walk all over the place going from business to business selling office supplies.
I was horrified because this is not what I wanted, and not what they told me. They never told me until I was out on the road with the employee and was too late to turn around. And it was 100% commission - something I don't think is for me. They just never told me, because if they did, I never would have shown up.
The employee was talking about the 8 habits of success and all that, I just didn't pay any attention because I was too angry at being deceived. I wanted to leave but I had no way of getting a cab, besides it would be too expensive to get one.
So there I was stuck under the broiling sun, feet aching, tired and very confused. I just wanted to go home. I couldn't believe that anyone would be so deceitful. They totally lied about the position. The guy seemed to have no money and the whole thing was just humiliating. He seemed nice, but under some sort of spell, believing that he was going to make it big when I could clearly see that he wasn't earning much. I actually felt sorry for him.
At the end of the day, I filled out yet another questionnaire at their office. The employee disappeared into Faress' office with my questionnaire, then came out after a few minutes to lead me out. He said that my answer "I'll think about it" (pertaining to the question "would you want to work here?") did it, that I wasn't getting hired. It didn't matter to me, I had a job at the time of the interview and I was happy because I knew when my paycheck was coming, not like at CCS.
I was so relieved to get out of there, I was very happy really. It was a miserable day. I did tell the guy who was with me all day that I thought he was fun and it was nice hanging out with him, but that was about the only good point, everything else was a complete nightmare.
I would advise to anyone thinking about applying or working with Catalyst Corporate Solutions that you think long and hard about it. It is not a steady-paying job, and you essentially work for nothing, while those at the top earn money at your expense. You better be sure this is what you want, and not just because it sounded great.
They can tell you all kinds of things, but it doesn't mean that they are necessarily true. I am just glad I was not hired, even if they wanted to anyway, I wouldn't accept because they lied to me. I wouldn't want to work with people like that. There are many posts about Cydcor (CCS' parent company) and there may be people who like working there, but majority do not. People here might post to rebut my experience and call me a loser, but it's ok. For that day while I was out on the 8-hour "interview"), I sure did feel like a loser and I'm not ashamed to admit it.
