In September of 05 I was assaulted outside a bar in Jackson New Jersey. An eye witness stated in the police report that I never acted aggressively towards the individual. As a result of the assault I underwent emergensy brain surgery and due to complications suffered amputations to my fingers and toes.
I've contacted the prosecuters office several times regarding this matter and as of the last contact they've stated they don't even intend to indict this kid based on the fact that he was cursing and screaming at myself and my brother in law and I exited the vehicle. The kids family is loaded so it appears they have some pull with the prosecuter. He has a long record of similar such incidents where I have none.
The prosecuter is either being swayed by the families money or doesn't have the guts to prosecute. No wonder it isn't safe to go out anywhere with people like this in charge of putting criminals behind bars and keeping them there. As a result of them not charging him I do not qualify for help with my medical bills from Victims of Crime Compensation.
My injuries have left me unable to work (18 years as a carpenter and 13 years as a guitar teacher) And now i have to worry about seeing this guy on the street and having him finish what he started. I died in the parking lot and had to be revived by emergency personel. Spent 4 months in the hospital, cannot walk properly (and was paralized for some time).
I have to type this report with what remains of my fingers. How can they justify this? I was a master carpenter, very acomplished guitar player and a decorated copetitive powerlifter for USA Powerlifting. I can no longer do any of these things without fingers
