Complaint / Review
Advantage America
AKA Federal Grants Department ripoff, Scammed, misled

I got a call on Saturday, late in the afternoon who claimed to be from the Federal Grants Department. They claim they would put $12,500 into my checking account for a grant that I would not have to pay back. They wanted me to pay $49.95 to process the paperwork and would pull it out of my checking account in two days. Itold them that I don't pay unless I see written agreement in the mail and that this information can not reach me in California in two days from Florida.

They claim that is not a problem and would wait to take the money out from the grant money. They then went on about free long distance phone service for ten days and then pay $19.95 to get it forever. Then I was to get a book of coupons worth $500 to $1000 in savings and after seven days I would be charged $299.95 through my checking account to keep and continue the service.

They aked for my routing number at the bottom of the check book so that they could deposit the $12,500 in my account. After that they put me through an automated system that asks you questions to answer yes or no and say your name, your bank and the routing number. If you say no to any of the questions, the woman comes back on the phone and goes through her speel to make you understand that you have to say yes to everything or the money will not be put in your account.

THIS IS A SCAM. I went to my bank account through the Internet and tranfered all my funds to my savings account. I then called the 800 number to the customer service and told the agent what had happened and to close that checking account and issue me a new account. I also informed her to block the account from Advantage America to access the account. I also have to write a letter and sign it and fax it to their office to make this legal.

I then tried to call the 866-503-7345 number and got a message saying "all their agents were busy, please stay on the line for the next available agent. Five minutes is long enough to know it is a scam.

Inform your family, friends and anybody you care about that will loose money, That this is a fruad.By the way thes women were of Orient accent and with a name like Linda Jones, it didn't make sense. My next plan is to contact Consumer Affairs in Florida, and contact the Secretary of State in Florida, and then locate the office of Internet fraud in the US government.

It's time people band together and stop the scams of the little people who are trying to make a living on what little thay have earned.
