I got a call today about a job I applied for today (Saturday) that was advertised in the San Antonio local newspaper. I was surprised to get a call back so soon, especially on Saturday. The job sounded too good to be true, but because I'm in the market for a job, I listened. She asked me which job I applied for, a question I answered but she didnt seem to understand. The description in the newspaper didnt say the name of the company, just "location finder". I was promised a company car, great salary, great hours, great working conditions etc... The woman on the phone said she called from Las Vegas, and she didnt speak well at all.
I asked her for some job information, all she was able to tell me is what is listed on the website. She wasnt able to answer any of my questions on the phone. All she told me to do was go on their website, which is loaded with grammatical and technical errors, and fill out a "contractual agreement". It looks like it was put together by a 3 year old, and not a very bright one. Errors all over it, not something that would EVER be put together by a company and put into a professional website.
The agreement asks for all kinds of information I wouldnt give out online to anyone, and thats where all my concern comes from. There is a phone number, which I called, and it led me to a recording which said push 1 to leave a message (not for anyone in particular) or leave a fax. Not very sophisticated. I called back the number that the woman had originally called me from, and it was simply a long distance and international service provider.
There is no way to reach this company, via phone number, email address or anything else. Their email addresses are all @msn addresses, which anyone could set up. I have no doubt that this was a scam, trying to get some personal information that they could use for who-knows-what. I'm upset enough they have my resume. I hope anyone else who applies for this job realizes that its a classic example of "too good to be true".
