Rip Off ripoff dishonest fraudulent billing

I purchased a Sprint cell phone on July 11, from Radio Shack in Lake City, Florida. At the time of purchase, I paid around $64.88 On or about August 10, I received a call from Sprint (1-888-211-4727), informing me that I owed them $93.58. I told them that from the day I purchased the phone I never used the phone, nor did I receive a bill! I was astonished the amount that I was said to owe because I was told that my monthly bill would be 49.00. I could not understand how a contract for $49.00 a month could result in a bill for $93.58, especially considering the fact that the phone was never used. However, I desperately need a cell phone because I was a totally disabled veteran in need of a liver transplant; therefore, I agreed to pay the amount.

I informed the Sprint representative on aug. 12 that I would be sending a check within 2 days, and was told that would be fine, and that my service would not be interrupted as long as Sprint received payment within 5 days. I went to Bank of America on line, and sent Sprint a check for $93.58. And I save a copy of the transaction, also they would have had thair money on wed. The 17th but they couldn't weight, However without warning, Sprint disconnected my phone. I found this out when a friend called me on my land phone and told me he could not contact me by cell phone because my Sprint account was temporarily out of service. When I found out that Sprint had lied to me, so on aug. 15th I contacted Bank of America web site and cancelled the check. I also returned the cell phone to Radio Shack. On the same day. (morning like 0930) when I received the phone from R/S they activated and when I turned it in R/S deactivated it.

When I talked to Sprint representative on September 12, I was told that I now owed $146.61 and if I did not pay that amount, they would turn my account over to a collection agency. I do not think I should be responsible to Sprint for any amount based upon the following: and they were told several times that the phone was turned in on the 15th of aug, but they don't care let the bill run, I think the last bill I Sean it was 352.15 now if that an"t a rip off I"l eat my hat. I just wish I could find a good atty.

1. I did not contract with sprint for $93.58 a month. I was specifically told my total charges would be $49.00 per month. Somehow Sprint managed to charge me $93.58 for the 30 days I possessed the cell phone but did not use it. Now hear this i had a friend that has a sprint phone and when he signed up they said it would be 49.00 bucks a month well bull, he is paying 80.00 a month his name is kenneth r schroff and his number is 904-386-6020 check it out..

2. I Never received a bill from Sprint; however this is not the fault of Sprint. I gave my address as 872 South Marion Street, but the Postal Service returned the mail because it should have been 872 South Marion Avenue. For almost three years I had received mail addressed to 872 South Marion Street, and all of a sudden, without notice or warning, the Post Office returned the mail to the sender. The first contact with Sprint was when they called me to tell me I owed $93.58. If a had received a written notice, I would have responded immediately. I have a reputation for always keeping my word.

3. I agreed to pay the inflated amount ($93.58) and Sprint agreed they would continue my services; however, they shut my phone off as soon as I got off of the phone (land line). For the second time, Sprint lied to me, so I cancelled the check I had sent. I was really upset because Sprint knew I needed a cell phone because of my medical condition, and they cut off my phone after promising not to.

4. I returned the phone to Radio Shack in perfect condition. I never used the phone, and my account records will prove this.

5. Sprint has made repeated harassing calls to me, and when I answered their was nothing their often hanging up as soon as I answered the phone. (close to 50) and I do believe that sprint screwed my phone up by sending some voltage down the wire cant prove it but both, phone and answering machine, are shorted, all boxes, cords and contacts are ok Bellsouth repair man was out here on the 20th of sept. And said SO. And Bellsouth repair man was out here on oct. 17th and said the same thing, on the 19th of oct Bellsouth said if we come out their one more time we will charge you, so I went and bot new phones and all is well, my old phone was only 1 1/2 years old. And if you know someone that wants to check my old phones out
