I contacted the jail in Marion County - downtown Indy to schedule a visit with an inmate. I have never been to the jail before. When I called to schedule the lady (if you can call her that) asked me what time - I told her and she said Oh and you realize you have to be here 45 minutes prior to your visit. No, I did not REALIZE this and was told I could not change my visitation time. I asked for a supervisor who pretty much said "tough". I am shocked that we pay these officials and they can treat the public like this. Don't we pay their salaries? I use to be very respectful of the law enforcement officials for the risks they take and the challenges they face each day but after being spoken to like a piece of trash on the street - I am ashamed to say I live in Marion County. The sheriffs department here is by far the rudest group of people I have ever spoken to on the phone. Too bad there is no one for this group to answer to. Just because I have someone in jail I would like to see - doesn't mean I am a criminal and don't appreciate being spoken to like I am one. Great job on your customer service skills. You really are a very very poor reflection for your department and for the community to see and speak too.
