My neighbor received a call from this company offering a free government grant. They advised her that they needed several other names in the area since they have a certain amount of grants to give out. They were offering a $12,500 grant. My neighbor gave them my contact information and they called my husband and I. Well it sounded very good and they told us that we would not have to pay back the grant.in order for them to send us the legal documents we had to pay a one time fee of $29.95 (this covering mailing the document and other legal fees). After we rec'd the documents we were supposed to take them to our bank; after that we were to receive out grant in the amount of $12,500.00
Well the $29.95 was taken out of our bank account on Friday August 12th. To date we have not received our papers. I've tried calling them and they told me today that their computers were down. I asked if they could pull a physical file and they said again "our computers are down". My neighbor called them and asked them what their company name was and they said First National Benefit.
I did a search on the internet for First National Benefit and found information on First National grant funding Benefit. It brought me to the rip off report site where I read about a man who delt with the same company. They have the same customer service number 800-410-1682. After finding this information, I am pretty sure that I was just ripped off of $29.95.
I know that $29.95 is not much money; but I am more upset at the false hope I was given. I am having financial problems right now and the promise of $12,500 could help me out alot!
I just don't want this company to continue ripping off people that are in hard times and are desperate for a resolution!
I will continue to call the "customer service" number and try to get some answers. The customer service people at the company also talk with a very heavy accent!
