Robert Brogden Buick Pontiac GMC
Deceptive and dishonest ads for employment ripoff

I responded to an ad in the Sunday edition of The Kansas City Star to become a car salesman with no experience necessary and have contracted Dale Mooreman of Automotive Training Concepts to do the interviews, screening and hiring for the company due to increased traffic. I came in and applied Monday afternoon on May 2. I was interviewed by Mr. Mooreman and asked to return on Wednesday, May 4, at 9:30 A.M.

I showed up, as well as three other applicants. We had a seminar at the used car building. Afterwards, he asked us one by one in private if we wanted to do this. I said yes and signed papers to join the sales department of the dealership, and was asked to return the next day to start training.

I started training on Thursday, May 5 as well as Friday, May 6. At the end of the day, Mr. Mooreman introduced us to the general manager, Doug Kinney, we also met the owner, Robert Brogden. We each had another interview by Doug Kinney, whom I thought was very rude to begin with.

I, as well as the other applicants, returned on Monday, May 9 to be further interviewed by the other management. After about approxamately an hour, I was told to go home and they would call me that afternoon. I was'nt sure what that meant.

I waited and waited and waited, finally at 8:00 P.M., before they closed, I called Doug Kinney.

"I was about to call you", he replied. (Yeah right, I thought) "We think we're going to let you do somthing else." He also said. "We don't want you to do something you'll probably fail at." He added.

I said to him; " I had the impression that I had the job, because I recived the training and was asked to return by Dale Mooreman."

"He's just a screener." Replied Kinney.

Upset I said; "Ihad the impression that had a job here after the training and all those interviews, and frankly am very upset and dissapointed that I was let on and given the impression that I had a job here."

"Well, you'd probably fail anyway." He followed.

"Now, how am I going to pay this training fee?" I asked.

His reply; "Thats between you and Dale Mooreman."

"You'll probably fail anyway." "Goodbye."

And that was it, I had been victimized by Doug Kinney and discriminated against for what reason I don't know. Traumatized by the experience, I don't remember sleeping that night. Luckily, I got hired on by an electrical contractor, but I still wonder to this day If I had been given a fair shot, how would I do. I wonder how they do their customers?

I'm still angry and want revenge. I think that Robert Brogden Buick-Pontiac-GMC should pay for Mr. Mooreman's $495.00 fee. After all, if I was really going to fail anyway, why did they waste my time? I think, in my opinion, I personally believe that this is a game they play to purposely victimize innocent people wanting to pursue a new career. No wonder GM stock is junk now, it's not the manufacturer, it's the dealerships.
