It will be two years in September since the car was stolen. It was my son's car, and it was stolen from Rhode Island. Police reports were made. Afterward, I made several calls between Kia and my insurance agency, USAA. I made arrangements with both companies. I thought I was handling everything. I waited for the insurance company to settle the claim. Of course, it did not pay everything. There was a balance of $6300.
I made arrangements with Kia to continue payments. Later, when I went to get a loan for a washer, I was turned down and found out that Kia had put a charged-off account for the stolen car on my credit report. I have seen three lawyers since then, none of whom are interested in helping me.
I continue to pay Kia's lawyers. Meanwhile I cannot even get a $300 loan. It isn't fair that I was the victim and I am getting punished. Kia states that I missed a payment during the time the insurance was settling. I do not dispute that I have to pay for the car; I just want it off my credit report so that I can live my life.
