I recently attended a so called "Entreprenuer's power summit" in Los Angeles California near the LAX airport. I was invited to this by a friend. I am a 20 year old college student.
When I arrived at the summit, I found that the audience was almost entirely african american and almost entirely underpriveleged. The "Power summit" turned out to be us sitting in chairs listening to Sid Sperry and his ilk make unfulfillable promises and try to sell us things. Basically, he wasn't teaching us to make money, he was asking us to give him money.
I first noticed something was up when I realized that they were not just promising to host web sites for people, they were promising to virtually run the entire buisness without any input from the buisness owner. I asked myself, "Why would they need me in this at all? They are going to build and maintain the website, ship all the items, and govern all the content!"
And then they said, "For only $2000 you can have your site up and running in 2 days." They wanted my money.
Later on I personally talked to Sid Sperry and he basically said, "Maybe this program is not for you but don't ruin it for everyone else."
I want to ruin it for everyone else! These seminars are horrible. They are victimizing the poor by making grandeose promises. I pray to God that Sid Sperry and those like him will be brought to justice.
