I purchased my black and tan Shiba Inu pup at 8wks. Old from Pet Paradise for $1,000. The pup appeared healthy but needless to say was far from healthy. She was diagnosed with patellar luxation (dislocated knees) in both rear legs, and hip dysplasia. Which are congential diseases but do not appear immediately. I traced my pups origins back to a breeder in Kansas confirming she is a puppy mill dog. I have the official report from Kansas Health Dept. That the breeder surrendered all animals due to AWA.
When I contacted Dana the owner of Pet Paradise with knowledge of the dog's origins' she replied" I do not know where the dog came from?" Well as the owner isn't it her responsibility to know? Then how does she advertise on her website from the "Best Breeders across the Country"! Of course she knows her pups are puppy mill dog's! Otherwise she would not have so many at once.
Dana refused to reimburst me the price of the pup or pay any of the vet costs! The bottom line is you pay a lot of money for a pup. Then an array of very costly vet fees! In my case my dog required surgery on both rear legs. Vet fees thus far $3,500! Not to mention the quality of life is not good!
