Misleading promotion to encourage passengers to sign up for spirit airline credit cards. Passengers told they would receive a 2,500 mile voucher w / a one-year expiration which could be used for free 2,500 miles of travel and if approved for a card 5,000 miles of travel.
I went to redeem my spirit miles (I have almost 10,000) but found that the miles advertised really act as 'points' and do not correlate to redeeming actual miles. I called customer service about my 2,500 mile voucher and additional 2,500 miles for signing up for a spirit credit card and was told my voucher had expired in less than a year as announced on the plane and my other miles (aka points) were not enough for the flight I wanted. For example, I wanted to travel from Houston to Vegas (less than 2000 miles), but spirit counts this trip as a '25,000' mile flight.
This is the hallmark of bait and switch and was very misleading. I believe their promotional vouchers and methods to entice people to sign up for their credit cards are fraudulent and need to be investigated
