Safeway store keeps forgetting to put my paid merchandise back into my cart - Safeway brand 10#bag potatoes and Safeway brand? # Gala apples

Dear Mr. Edwards,

Hello. My name is Rachelle Payne. I am a 32 year old stay at home wife, and mother of 5 children. I live in a small town in Oregon, approximately 20 miles round trip from the nearest Safeway. My husband works hard to support our family, we are active in our community and schools, and I work VERY hard to make sure our dollars stretch to support our family of 7.

I shop at Safeway in Junction City, OR typically 1 time a week; sometimes less or more. This is our MAIN grocery store however. We spend THOUSANDS of dollars here a year. I am seriously considering shopping somewhere else after my last two experiences there.

I went to buy groceries this last Monday, the 9th. When I got home I was missing the 10# sack of potatoes I bought. I called the store, they said they were there and I could come down and get them. When I explained that I live far away, and wasn't able to just "pop down" and get them; there was no sympathy, or even an apology. I told them I would pick them up the next time I was in town.

Which leads us to today. I went back to town to do my normal grocery shopping. I went to the desk and explained the previous situation. Dana, the service manager, told me to get the potatoes and tell the clerk. So, I completed all my shopping, got the potatoes and went to check out. The young man there was nice enough, helped me out and got me on my way.

When I got home, and finished putting things away, I could not find my bag of Gala apples. I simply couldn't believe that something was forgotten again, so I tore my kitchen and car apart until I could see that they were NOT there.

I called the store and asked to speak with a store manager. Dana, the service manager, informed me I was not ABLE to speak with a store manager. That I would have to speak with her. I told her who I was, what I had just been there for, and that something else was now missing. She said, as she was chuckling, that yes, she could see where the apples were sitting at the checkout. She again said I could "pop down" and get them. When I told her that I live so far away, that wasn't possible; she said, "I don't know what you want me to do about it".

This attitude, is unacceptable to me. We are not going to starve, BUT the food I PAID for with my money, is not going to feed my family, like it should be. I also wonder, I noticed these two items missing because we eat a lot of fruit and veggies, what else have we been shorted that I just didn't notice? And to multiply that, how many OTHER families is Safeway doing this to?

I truly hope this issue is remedied quickly, as I personally, have about reached my limit. And can sincerely state, that I will not return to Safeway if this happens again.
