Watch the planned obsolescense

I neede a spare ignition key for a dodge 1500,34, 650 miles, never any thing wrong. Went to a dealer that does all my schduled necessary maintenance to have a new key programmed, found the cost to be $206not suprising since the cost of all electronic chip items has been going DOWN. Got the key and found what had worked without any problem, did'nt work, the passenger side lock. It was frozen solid, couldn't even pull it up. There were no certified mechanics on duty that day, Labor day wk-end so I scheduled another apt., as the dealer person could't figure what was wrong after he had programmed the key. The lock worked fine before I brought it in. Took it back, they gave me a ride home, and subsequently called and said the same computor told them the processor in the door was frozen, and suggested my only recourse was to pull the door panel, replace it, and pay for the whole thing, parts labor, everything and it wasn't their fault because it happened in spite of the facts, while at their dealership. Worked well before but I was 1 year past 36 months, but under 36,000 miles. The service mgr said I slould have purchsed an extended warranty for "2 thousand dollars to have $ 4to 500 cavered", and there was no liabilty on their part. Finally settled for a $50 deductble (?) and called the local Chrysler factory representative. No avail, my problem. Is this an act of God, planned obsolescence, or a service mechanic, uncertified, or?
Out $206 $50. Had to mediate, and never a previous problem...
