Received letter that had won $2,245, 189.00, but must reply by deadline of 08/21 by signing enclosed paper that confirmed age over 18, acknowledged that all taxes were my problem, and that failure to respond by date meant forfeiture of all prize, and all I had to do was send them $25, to the address listed:
$25 in cash, check, or money order, made payable to R.D.D.:

I would love to see this sort of thing stopped. I have known too many old people with no money, think "it's only $25, what do I have to lose?" Too many people are taking shortcuts to earning money, and would rather depend on the hopes, dreams, and lack of understanding that these scams depend on. If this helps, at all, I will be pleased. Needless to say, I did default on my prize of $2.2 million. I still have this letter, and all that came with it, which was only an envelope, but with a different address:
