A young man showed up and kept knocking. I didn't open the door but he kept saying don't worry it's nothing bad and he wanted to talk with me. So, being a smarty pants I didn't open the door and had my husband meet the young boy outside of my house. He claimed he wanted to go on a trip and wanted $44.00. $22 for the subscription of 3 years of any magazine and the other $22 would go towards his trip. My husband brought the paper to me and I immediately checked it online and sure enough there are many complaints about this company and also they have a rating of "F" with the Better Business Bureau (BBB).
My husband told the boy about the ratings and the scams and the boy was shocked.
What boggles my mind is that he told us that he is not from California, but from Washington. He said that a group of them are brought here by bus and are dropped off on a major street and are asked to go to all of the side streets and solicit. I'm not sure if the poor kids even know that they are being scammed by the company. End result: no cash money or check was given. I came out as a winner but I feel sorry for the people that do believe in these kids.
