I was contacted by a Mr. Andrew Stanton and told I was approved for an 8000 loan. Said he had gotten my information by my applying online for loans. Was sent very official appearing loan agreement by e-mail. It stated I needed to pay 3 months payments (1090.00) upfront because of poor credit. So on 6/19 I sent the 1090.00 by Western Union to a Henry Carrington in New York. Was told I would have loan in 2 business days. On Friday, 6/21 I got a call from Mr. Michael Dunham, the so called manager, telling me the insurane was now requiring an additional 3 months payments of 1090.00. Told him I didn't have that kind of money and he went on to say they had a discount program where if I could come up with 590.00 his company would put in 500.00. Told him I didn't have the 590 as I had taken from my rent money to pay the 1090.00. He said we could put the loan on hold or they would refund me 1201.00 (the 1090.00 fee plus 111.00 it cost to send by Western Union) I said give me a couple days to think it over and I would get back to him. On Wednesday 6/26 I startd calling to cancel the loan and get my money back. All I got at Mr. Dunham extension 592 and Mr. Stanton extenion 389 was an answering machine. I left 5 messages at each extension on Wed., Thursday, Friday and on Monday. Also I sent at least 3 e-mails each day for Mr. Stanton as I had his e-mail address from when he sent me the loan agreement. Also went online at their website and left messages to contact me as I wanted my money back. On Tuesday, 7/2 hen I tried alling you just get a busy signal. Also their website and Mr. Stanton's e-mail have been taken down. There now is no way to contact them and I want my money back. This is a real rip-off and now I am going to be homeless and out on the street as I didn't get the loan plus am out 1201.00. Is there anything that can be done and who can I contact? I want these people apprehended as this is a crime to steal from people who are in need. Please let me know if there is anyone who I can officially contact.
