For about 2 or 3 years now me and my family's lives have been effected. We have been struggling because action has not been taken, and the law that's supposed to protect us all is only enforced when people bringing justice feels like doing so. I was awarded custody just a year after splitting apart from my children's mother. I have seen and witnessed some things that make me question the foundation our principals were based on. When she had custody of the children I got laid off and only got 425.00 a month. They had told me it didn't matter what I was getting they had to base it on minimum wage, so I paid 350.00 to her a month. As you can guess that let a lot of money left over for me and my girlfriend to live on. 75.00... So me and my girlfriend stayed strong and lived in and out of my car for 4 months while I watched my family slip further away from me. I couldn't get a lawyer and still can't afford one to this day because I'm not getting the help I need. I been busting my neck working endless hours to make ends meet, but its never enough. My girlfriend and I been together about 4 years taking care of our one child and two from another relationship. The fact is she can't get a job because she is taking care of 3 children and 2 of the 3 isnt biologically hers. So the support I'm supposed to get we don't. We've only got 4 or 5 payments since custody. After struggling a while I finally came to terms that we shouldn't have to struggle, and my kids should not have to suffer and watch our family stress over making ends meet..in fact that's why a system was built in the first place, to ensure that the family's taking care of the needing children's get the things they need. I called and called and finally gave up trying. Domestic relations in clarion county always said were sorry there isn't a lot we can do. A bench warrant was issued after 2 years of not paying but 1 or 2 payments. She is still free to live her life without responcibility or law to enforce her part. Now since she gets away with pretty much what ever she wants, she also has been breaking the terms of our court order. She probabaly figures since she has been getting away with not paying and not much has been done to enforce it, what else can she do... I told you then and I'm telling you now. Open your eyes and do your jobs like you swore in oath that you would do. Help the families that are struggling. I with you on giving people chances, but how long do we wait? Until the family that's struggling to stay together gets ripped apart because the only works when it wants? Make people believe in the law again. I shouldn't be begging a system to do a job it was designed to do in the first place. Shame on you.
