I bought a $1200 Panasonic video camera from Richie last October. The price was good, had the usual phone sales stuff (i.E. Hard sell on warranty, special packages, filters, etc.) but that's okay. What wasn't okay was that the guy sold me two batteries (they were both supposed to be long life, but only one was (:- (, but more importantly there was no charger. When I called the sales guy back he said that didn't come with it (i.E. He lied and his # is 278 or 288). I considered all of this bits of chicanery under caveat emptor. Over the next six months I shot various bits of short film and then sat down to download them and what I discovered was that there were 486 files already on the camera.in short, they sold me a used camera for a new camera price. I've had all the same problems as others have noted (i.E. They're impossible to contact) but I'm thinking of contacting the NY state consumer fraud bureau.
