I called 800-321-6896 from a Google search for "Linksys Support". I explained my router problem and "Alex" (Indian-accent) had me connect for him to remotely control my computer. He opened the command prompt, typed the TREE command from the root directory and when the output completed, he began to type a text string at the next command prompt which stated that my computer had a "Trojan" and needed attention. I accused him of typing the text string himself and the call somehow terminated. I redialed and another "Alex" (Asian-accent) answered. The same sequence of events occurred but this time the hand-typed string was "a corrupt server drive". I told him that he typed that text string himself — He argued. I asked him if the number I called was actually Linksys and he said that I called Linksys and he was a Linksys technician, then asked me again what my problem was. I told him that I thought his intent was fraud and the call ended. The only information they collected from me was my name, my phone number, and my e-mail address.
