I was sent this email four days ago and suspected fraud. It says I have won a UK Microsoft powerball drawing, but I do not live in the UK and therefore cannot enter drawings from there, neither have I bought a ticket to be in any lotteries. It refers one to a claim processing manager named Philip Leonard Doughty and asks for your name, address, country, age, occupation, nationality, mobile phone number, and contact email. I noticed spelling and grammatical errors within this email as well. I sent an email to lead them on to see if they would reply and got an email from this supposed Mr. Doughty. It is from a "Payment Center " and reads like this:
This is to inform you that we have received your E-mail message and shall respond shortly if required.
Mr. Philip L. Doughty
Accredited Microsoft Claims Manager
Direct Tel. Line: 44-77-0008-3520
Fax: 448723529334
I was unwilling to try and get them to divulge any further information.
