Complaint / Review
Union Bank of California
Consumer Report

I was living ion Bali in Indonesia; and, every time I would make a withdrawal on my account through an ATM, the Bank would charge me $5.00 for a foreign transaction fee. They would then tack on an additional $5.00 for a "Balance Inquiry" fee, which I never asked for. They would do this until my account was overdrawn; and, then they would tack on really large fees for being, "Over the Limit" or "Continued Overdraft" fees. On one occasion they had me using ATMs In Seminyak, Bali and 600-miles in Jakarta and 1500 mile north in Bangkok all at the same time (I was in Bangkok) They claimed that this could never happen had I not explicitly requested the information which was easily available free over the Internet. At one point their arrogance extended to having their Security Dept. Threaten to sue me, to which I replied, "When can we start; I can't wait to see you shoot yourself with your own gun?" They became more and more rude and finally closed my account causing me to open another in the E*TRADE Bank on 20 Sept. 2011. E*TRADE charged something like $1.46 for a withdrawal; and, they do not steal. I complained to the Banking Commission, who agreed with the Bank. I complained to my Congressman, Sam Farr, who, as usual, did nothing. I understand that there is a class-action lawsuit against Union Bank by the San Francisco law firm at, if anyone has a similar complaint.

I have a 2nd complaint: Your web site will not allow me to enter the actual dates; so, ignore the bogus figures I do ente
