On Apr. 7th, I reserved a room for one night at Super8Charlottesville (VA) for Apr. 11th. They advertised "free cancellation". Today, Apr. 10th, I found out I would not be able to go because the person we intended to visit couldn't see us. It took 3-4 minutes to find "My Booking" link on HotelsOne's web page because it was in yellow on the page advertising the international cities where they have hotels. When I found and clicked "My Booking, " I was informed that my reservation couldn't be cancelled and to contact "Customer Service". I had to search for a phone number to call Customer Service. Only an international number was listed on my reservation confirmation e-mail.By the time located and called the number and spoke with (after being put on hold) Customer Service, it was 4:05 and they told me that I could not cancle the reservation because it was after 4:00 and that I would have to pay the full fee. Nowhere on the website or on my confirmation e-mail was a time listed by which I had to cancel or the statement that I would have to pay the full fee for the room if I cancelled after their (unstated) deadline. HotelsOne said this was the policy of the Super8 motel in Charlottesville. I then called the Super8Charlottesville and they said they had my reservation listed and that I could cancel it because I had free 24-hour cancellation but I would have to contact HotelsOne. When I tried to call HotelsOne back, they had already cancelled my reservation.
I'm not happy to pay $65.76 for nothing especially since the company did not make the specific rules clear nor did they provide a clear information of how to contact them re a refund.
