Sat., April 6. My lab opened a plastic container of ice cube gum and ate 20 pieces. I induced vomiting within 5 minutes and thought that he would be fine. I decided to call vet and after many calls to vet and poison control ended up at the hospital. My dog was in the ICU overnight to monitor blood sugar levels and liver function. He was released eve of April 7 but I need to go to the vets every 24 hr to have blood drawn because liver failure may not show up for days. So here I am with a large hospital bill plus daily blood draw bills, hoping his liver is okay waiting and wondering... Why does it not say anywhere on the package PRODUCT IS FATAL TO DOGS. I consider myself a very knowledgeable "dog mom" but did not realize the toxins are on outside of the gum, just by licking gum it can cause sugar levels to drop and liver to fail. This product can never be in my household nor any household with a dog.
