Complaint / Review
Motor Vehicle Services and EFG. And Omnisure
Consumer Report

I received a mailing from Motor Vehicle Services regarding the factory warranty on a vehicle I just purchased in February, advising that my warranty was about to expire or already expired and they gave me a number to call (877-297-6178). They misrepresented themselves saying they were associated with Honda; which I later found out was not true. I called them because I thought they were a legitimate business and was coerced into buying their coverage for an extended warranty. I wanted to make sure that if anything went wrong with the vehicle I had coverage to get it repaired with little or no cost to me. After talking to a person named "Jay" at extension 4061, I gave him my debit card info and thought I had done the right thing. I began to worry that I had made a mistake in dealing with that company and called the dealership where I purchased my car and found out they are just solicitors trying to get money from me. I did give them my debit card and charged a down payment of $395.00. They were very nice to me while they were trying to get me to sign up with them (including 12 monthly payments of $156.76). However, after I talked to the dealership and found out it was someone just trying to get money from me. I called the Motor Vehicle Services back immediately and told them I wanted to cancel, that I couldn't afford to buy their warranty policy and already had a warranty on my vehicle and they kind of laughed at me and said I could not cancel the coverage now. This all occurred within 30 to 45 minutes after the initial call to Motor Vehicle Services. They were very rude, cruel and unrelenting. They kept telling me that there was no way I could cancel the coverage, even though it all took place within a very short period of time. I told them I could cancel the coverage and had the right to do so. Right away I knew I had been scammed. The dealership told me they had no affiliation with Motor Vehicle Services, thus committing fraud; not to mention that on the form I received showed a FL License #W043897, which I found out was NOT a valid license in the State of Florida. They also state that it was "Administered by EFG". While talking to them about cancelling the coverage, they wanted to talk to my husband and my husband told them they will cancel the coverage and MVS (Motor Vehicle Services) laughed at him and told him that it could not be cancelled. They got into a heated conversation and they accused my husband of beating me; which couldn't be farther from the truth. My husband is not a violent man and has never laid a hand to me in the 33 yrs we have been together and never threatened to. I was severely abused, both physically and mentally by my father when I lived at home, and I vowed that would never happen to me again. I am having to see a therapist (13 yrs) because of what my father did to me and my siblings. Both my husband and I are on very limited income and really cannot afford the cost. I am on Social Security Disability and my husband is also on disability through the Veterans Administration and has lung cancer and will never be able to work again. And it is doubtful that I will ever be able to work again. I am in disbelief that I allowed myself to be scammed and tried to rectify it as soon as possible. I have had my debit card cancelled and made sure they can no longer take any more money out of my bank. I called Florida's Attorney General office and filed a complaint with them; they gave me numerous phone numbers and names of organizations that might be able to help me, including the Attorney General office in Missouri (I have already filed a complaint with them). I have called every one of the numbers she gave me and am filing fraud claims to each one of them. I want them to be investigated and have my money returned to me. They misrepresented themselves and scammed me out of almost $400 dollars. I feel there is no legal way for them to keep my money and not cancel the coverage when I called them a few minutes after the transaction. I have ordered things before and after realizing my mistake, the companies had no problem in cancelling the order when I called them back to cancel the order within a few minutes. They led me to believe that I had no coverage for my car for repairs and maintenance. They told me it would cost me about $2,000 to have my car repaired without their coverage. They also led me to believe that they represent "Honda", when in fact they don't. I am praying that this will be taken care of one way or another, but I do need your help in doing so. Please help me and I can guarantee that this kind of thing will never occur again. I learned a very valuable lesson from this and will never forget it. I still can't believe I got caught up in this and am having go to great lengths to try and rectify this situation. Thank you, Bonnie (Personal Information Removed)
