Consumer Report

I have owned my trike for a year now. It spent about half of the time in the shop. Not because of the actual repair time, but the time it took to get the parts. The distribution center for true bicyucles is terrible. They are NOT service oriented. The people at the distribution are totally incompetent. They don't return phone calls even to dealers. The first thing that went wrong was in the shipping, they had put the nails in the crate in such a way that both back tires were destroyed. Although I was told that I would be reimbursed for the repair, the repair came out of my pocket. Then the next problem was the fuse and fuse housing. It kept breaking. I would have to wait for weeks on end to have the distribution center send the parts. My bike mechanic finally installed a larger fuse and fuse housing unit that he made himself. The next problem was the front basket would rub against the front brake cable causing a terrible squealing sound. My bike mechanic re-designed the front light system and basket so it wouldn't push against the front brake cable. It saved my break pads and stopped the noise. The next problem is my seat broke. I had an extra Schwinn seat that came off an old bike I used to have and used it to replace the broken seat. The next problem was the pedal assembly broke off the frame. This time I had to wait for the local welder to do his thing. Finally, some front spokes broke. Once again the distribution center showed it's true colors. My bicycle repair (also a bicycle dealer) tried to order spokes for the front wheel. Scott, at the distribution center said that he would check the wareshouse and see if there were any spokes there. That was two weeks ago. I finally found the spokes at a website www (dot) holmeshobbies (dot) com. Thirty six stainless steel front spokes cost $39.40 and that included shipping. The front wheel takes thirty six spokes. If you are willing to take a big risk and willing to put out an additional $500 or so dollars for the truebicycles electric tricycle, then this is the product for you. There are other risks involved. If you are riding an truebicycles.com you have to be extremely careful. It is very easy to tip over or flip if your rear wheel hits something you don't see and avoid. Take it easy and you'll have no problems with riding it. Until the manufacturer decides to find a competent distribution center, I would strongly recommond looking some where else for an electric tricycle.
