Consumer Report

This is not about money; it's about principle and ethics. Tops has displays on shelves in the front of the store, with the items on sale. Today I saw the Progresso Soup display - 10 for $10. I picked one up, got other items, paid for everything and went to my car.in my car I noticed I had been charged $2.69 for the soup, with. 19 cents off, making the price charged to me $2.50. I went back to the store and explained that I had been overcharged $1.50. The lady at the desk said, no that was the correct price. It was not a Classic soup, and those were the ones on sale. When I expressed objection that the kind I had (and there were many more of that kind in the display) should not have been in the 10 for $10 sale display, I was told that that's the way they did it. Sale price items were intermingled with other sale items of a different price, but with a sign listing the lower price. How deceiving is that! Many young families are hurrying to purchase their weekly supply of groceries, and do not have the time to read each sign for the disclaiming small print; then check each can to see if it qualifies. You assume that the store is honest enough to put only items on sale for a certain price in the displays. I do not need any retribution, but I want Tops to stop ripping the public off!
Thank you for anything you can do about this.
