I sent a package through FedEx to the Philippines. I inquired how much the customs charges and taxes would be and they said they did not know. It would be up to the local customs agents. I tracked the package and when it arrived in Manila, the recipient Phoned to ask about the charges. They would not answer and refused to cooperate. They kept the package for weeks until the finally decided to tell us the charges, which was almost $700! After disputing the charges with FedEx and Philippine customs, they still refused to release the package even after we agreed to pay it. Then when they finally released the package, they added on another $25 for storage fees! The Philippine customs said that FedEx uses its own customs agents while FedEx said that they had nothing to do with customs. What a rip off!!
