My 85 year old mother received a call saying her grandson had gone to Niagra Falls for a wedding, at last minute notice. He was stopped in Canada driving a rental car and was charged DUI, however the charges were dropped because he actually had been taking Nyquil. They had taken a blood test but it would not be ready for 1 week, however the way it worked in Canada was if he got out of the country within 24 hrs and paid damages on the rental and the car he barely sideswipped, then they would let him go. The amount was $842 and they would let us know later the balance. My mom had taken their # and called me, very upset. I called the # (438) 932-4690. No one answered and then they called me back, asking if I was the mother. Then they proceeded to tell me the above story. Red flags everywhere. The person posed as my sons attorney in Canada. I told him I would make some calls to get the money and call him back.in the meantime I got my son on his cell phone and he was at work here in the good ole' USA. But it upset my mom so bad that she began to have chest pains and it took a while to get her settled back down. Oh yes, while I was talking to the "attorney", another man from this scam called my mom AGAIN! They were trying to get the money fast before we could get hold of my son. I also had asked to speak to my son and they said he had used his one call to my mom.
