Don't ever subscribe to Shutterbug magazine!
They threatened to place my account with a collection agency if I did not renew my subscription.
And they did! For $50 that I do not owe!
This is the second time that Shutterbug magazine has fraudulently demanded money.
Again, I've got threatening letters and telephone calls from North Shore collection agency.
The previous time this happened (February) I complained to the subscriptions department at Shutterbug magazine; they said that this attack by North Shore was a 'mistake' on their (Shutterbug's) part, and that the problem would go away. I had renewed my original 2009 subscription in October so this occurred 3 months AFTER they were paid for a 2 year subscription. I told them to mark my account that in no way would I ever re-subscribe to their magazine after the sub expired in September.
So I got a few letters asking me to re-subscribe (all magazines do this) which I ignored; then they sent the piece of evidence which proves their fraudulent practices:
An invoice from Shutterbug magazine (dated August 6) stated "We will be turning your account over to our Collection Center. To avoid being penalized, you must send your payment by Sept. 5."
In other words, I'm selected as a target for 3 more years of their magazine that I've already said emphatically that I don't want, but if I don't pay, they'll hand me to a debtv collecting agency.
How sleazy is that?
Well, it's fraudulent for a start, and may well be mail fraud. I do hope so; I'm contacting the appropriate postal authorities.
