CC Recovery is trying to scam our business on behalf of Yellow Pages Local Directory. They contacted us in September of last year and stated that we owed Yellow Pages Local Directory 868.00 or so and that they would pursue legal action if we did not pay up. This was for a bogus call (actually many to us from the Yellow Pages Directory) that we supposedly had agreed to advertising in. Their call was not the initial call where we might have agreed to advertise in their book but a call to tell us that our free ad was up and that we needed to pay for the second year of the advertising from them. What they did get from us in that call was our business stating that we agreed that if they could come up with proof of signing anything (initially) that we would pay them. They cut and spliced that info that day and used it to bill us. They tried to tell me that they could take a one time payment for only 499.99 to settle the account. I hung up on them.
So, again, enter CC recovery and they are now representing Yellow Pages Local Directory and demanding payment for fraudulent advertising practices. What gets me is that in the letter from CC Recovery in Sept of last year they state that we have 30 days to dispute their bill. We sent certified mail to them 5 days after that and they have no record of it apparently because they state that we did not dispute it and therefore owe them and Yellow Pages Local Directory. We hired an attorney a year ago to get rid of them and he sent a letter of cease and desist. We also contacted the Attorney General from the state of NY. We thought that as of January last year that this was a settled matter. We are quite surprised that they have fired up their efforts again to try to get us for something we never agreed to in the first place. So, we kept everything and have forwarded it to our attorney and will proceed as before but this time I think we will sue them for mail fraud and harassment of some form. We have invested over 1500.00 on this and it is time to recover our losses from CC Recovery and Yellow Pages Local Directory.
