Rescue refuses to refund deposit
At the end of December in 2012, I contacted the Director of 2DaRescue, Karen Evans, in regards to our interest in dogs that were available for adoption through her rescue. We discussed extensively the fact that we wanted to foster the dogs first to make sure that they would be the right fit for our other dog and environment. She said this was something that she allowed and it would be no problem. We placed a deposit with her for the dogs and brought them into our home. Within a week of the dogs being in our home it was clear that they were not compatible with other animals on the property and that their safety was in question. We contacted Ms. Evans immediately to inform her of the situation. She said she understood and was going to have them relisted online to get them adopted out. She told us at that time she would refund our deposit money or help us locate another dog. We agreed to foster the dogs we had in our care while she found a new home. After several days Ms. Evans had made no effort to generate new interest in the dogs and I asked her when she planned on doing that. After she still made no efforts I emailed her with photos and additional listing information to use for the dogs as well as put in writing again that we could not adopt the dogs. At this time we requested our deposit be refunded. Ms. Evans got upset and unreasonable to work with and insisted on taking the dogs from our home immediately. We handed the dogs and all belongings back over to her per her request. We requested a refund of our deposit again at this time since we were not adopting the dogs and she made it very clear that she would not do any additional business with us. Ms. Evans sent several emails after our final request with false accusations, personal attacks on us and is now refusing to refund our deposit as she had previously stated she would on several occasions. Ms. Evans informed us that we would need to pursue other avenues to try and get our money back. All we want is a refund of the deposit money that is rightfully ours. We are horrified by the actions of this rescue and its director, Ms. Evans. There has been a complete lack of professionalism in her correspondence since she began making personal attacks that were completely unwarranted in this situation.
