Central Rewards
Consumer Report

On 8-30-11 while believing I was speaking to a credit card representative I was offered a gas card at a small fee and a trial of a travel service that I could cancel after getting my info package. Upon getting my information they said I was being transferred to the person who would fill out the credit application.instead I was transferred to an 800 directory assisance recording. I called back SEVERAL times and only contacted them after calling from my wife's cell phone. I told them I felt I had been scammed and to cancel the entire transaction. After arguing about it he agreed to cancel it. On 9-7 I found 3 unauthorized debits to my bank account that were made 9-2. I immediately contacted my bank and reported the charges as fraudulant. Paperwork was filed and we were refunded our money.By researching online I found 2 of the companies who made the charges. One, a small hardware store who had no info on the charges or the original company I delt with. The other was a magazine company that we tried several times to contact but never could. I contacted the bank and put a freeze on our account. I recieved magazines I didn't want but never a gas card or an intro package. I assumed it had been resolved. The next month I was contacted because the magazine co was unable to charge my account. I explained the situation and that I did not want any magazines and in fact had never ordered them. I asked that any account be terminated. I continued to receive magazines and was contacted again in Oct/Nov about the bill. I once again explained the situation and said to cancel my account. I offered to send back the magazines.in Dec I spoke with two women and was told to fax proof that I had tried to contact them. I was told in January the fax was received and they would be in touch. I never got another bill and thought it was over but I was contacted today by a collection agency and told I owe $2300. I spoke with a woman at Central Rewards who was very rude and insistent that we owe the money even though we never placed an order for the magazine. When I told her I would like a recording of the phone call she says she made telling us our proof wasn't good enough, she told me she "was not here to revisit anything from that far back"! I have filed a complaint with Florida's BBB.
