Next time, use Ryder or Budget

I rented a uhaul in Fayetteville, AR on Feb. 24 along with a car dolley. Had to pick up truck at one location and the dolley at another. Both returned 48 hours later. My credit card was properly charged. Last Saturday, a charge for $242.09 showed up on my debit card for the dolley that was returned in Mesa, AZ overdrafting my account because I was changing banks with my move. I immediately began calling uhaul, only to be told that either myself or my designee returned the dolley in AZ. When I informed the agent that I had surrendered the property in Little Rock a week earlier, the agent then told me I had surrendered the wrong dolley. Needless to say, an overdraft on the weekend is not something that can be easily addressed. Uhaul's response this morning is that it could take 2-3 days to refund the money.

As luck would have it, my wife also rented a uhaul to move our son's furniture on 2/29. She rented it in the afternoon (1 day rental), and the agent was fully aware that she would be returning it that night. He informed her where to drop the key upon return. She is charged the estimated fee and also an extra day's rental as the vehicle was not checked in until 8:15 A.M. The next morning. I always thought a day's rental was 24 hours.

I have now gotten both charges resolved with uhaul, but only after spending several hours of my time demanding these issues be addressed. My suggestion for anyone dealing with uhaul is to pay in cash. Do not give it your credit card number.
