I recently answered a survey on the internet promising that once I did, I would receive a free gift. Well, I choose to receive 3 FREE months of TV Guide. I have been receiving my TV guide for free when all of a sudden, I look at my Visa Check card statement on 1/24/02 and I see a charge there for $47 that I did not initiate nor approve.
The name of the company that submitted the charges was NSS Magazine. I immediately called them up and asked what the charges were for. The informed me it was for a one years subscription to TV Guide. I explained to them that the TV Guide I was receiving was for free for three months and that was it. They informed me that it said (probably in very small letters that I did not even read) that I would be charged for a one year subscription at the end of my three months if I didn't call and cancel.
Well, my friends, this is Bull-SH*T. If I didn't review my account when I did, I would have had bounced checks etc. Who is going to pay that? When you are asked to put in your credit number for a free gift... DON'T DO IT! I learned my lesson. I will also be reporting this magazine to the Better Business Bureau. Below is the company's name and full address for those of you who need to know.
