Jacob Cotton
P-51 Mustang Restoration through University Texas Austin

Articulate, college-age, white male, 5'7, thin, braces, was door-to-door selling aka fundraising travel expenses for a P-51 Mustang restoration project at the University of Texas Austin. He stated both parents Military Senior Officers, lives on my street, in the Aerospace program/ROTC, and he's majoring in Aerospace with a Minor in music. Purchase of items also benefit a children's hospital. He showed an example of some random "neighbor" check for a $43 purchase for a children's dictionary set. Prices seemed ridiculous so I simply donated $20 cash against my better judgment. I know there are plenty of military families with children on other streets around my specific street (its own neighborhood). He did mention he usually walks the family's golden retriever 8:30-9 and his parents walk it at night. I definitely don't recognize him, but plenty of people walk their dogs day and night here.

After giving him $20, I realized my error. Jacob Cotton mentioned a pilot on my street by name that I know does not exist since my street only has retirees (20 years); and if I noticed the T-38s etc flying above today because his father his trying to get his pilot's license. He also mentioned they were in the news recently, the Honors group, and will be on CNN in January for the unveiling of the P-51 Mustang. I cannot find any information regarding this other than a similar scam involving a girl using the same reason: P-51 Mustang restoration. It wasn't until after the fact that I realized my error as I usually do not purchase from my doorstep. I didn't think to question further due to the number of military families in my area.

I hope I'm wrong, but it really ticks me off when people use Military Service and involvement.
