On June 17, I investigated many free laptop websites. I found laptoprewardcenter.com, and I immediately looked into obtaining a free Apple MacBook Pro. All that was required was that I complete 10 promotional offers with other companies within 30 days. The same day, I contacted them via email (the only source of communication available from the website) to ask a question about conditions I had to meet in order to obtain the free laptop. They never answered that email.
I completed all 10 offers within the next month. Yet, every time I typed in the web address I had used the previous time visiting the site, a new offer came up. I was especially confused that free purses, cameras, and gas cards were showing up on www.laptoprewardcenter.com. Were they trying to trick me into not finding the site so I could not obtain my prize?
Luckily, I found the site every time eventually and completed all of the offers. Because many of the offers cost money to complete, I spent a total of over $100 on these promotions alone. I figured, however, that it would be worth it if I could get a free laptop. I emailed the company again to tell them that I had completed the offers and to ask for further instructions (the website required that I send in all the receipts, which I did save, before sending my free laptop to me but I did not know to which address I should mail them—again, the company only offered email for communication).
No response. I emailed them again. No response. I was beginning to get worried that they would never contact me and that I was just scammed out of over $100 with nothing to show for it. I began letting them know that I would report them if they did not contact me. Still no response to this day, even after about 5 emails.
I wondered if maybe the company had shut down and was no longer working. However, on the site it clearly says 'Hurry up! Offer expires on (the day after the day it is viewed i.E. If you view it on July 30, it will say 'expires on July 31'). Limited Quantities!' Additionally, it was copyrighted in which is less than eight months ago.
I would love to have the free laptop now or my $100 back, but this issue goes beyond that. It is wrong for a website to advertise that which they cannot deliver, especially when consumers are willing to take the time and money to try products (which, I might add, they would never normally try) in vain. This website falsely advertised a free laptop. No one else should go through the stress I've experienced, so please be aware before viewing and participating in this site.
