Web of Trust (WOT) relies on USER/MEMBERS to rate websites based on 4 criteria:
- Trustworthiness
- Vendor Reliability
- Privacy
- Child Safety
Once a SINGLE user makes a claim against a site, that site then is branded with a negative rating until and unless it is removed by the user - or - other users counter the single users claim with multiple positive reviews. Any computer user who uses WOT browser add-on/download will be warned severely when visiting a site with a single negative comment.
The company does not provide any other means to have negative feedback reviewed and corrected. WOT is rife for abuse by people who would wish ill will on specific site.
We recently launched a new site www.DeerRepellentPacks.com that includes a Wordpress Blog. A single user "claimed" that the site was compromised. It was not. The site is clean.
Yet, our site is "flagged" because of this one user who will not change his rating despite the fact that his claims are untrue.
WOT is not what it appears to be and is a web of potential mistrust.
