My husband and I signed up with Hostgator at approximately 10:30 AM August 4. The web host site would not work with our computer so we cancelled our contract with Hostgator at approximately 1:30 PM August 4. On Sunday August 5 a woman with Hostgator assured my husband that a refund was due us within 72 hours. I checked my Simon card balance on August 7 and we had not yet received our refund. I called Hostgator at approximately 1:15 PM August 7 to find out why I had not received a refund and I was told by this person that we would not receive a refund for a year - when we were due to renew with them.
I was mad. He put me on hold and after several minutes I was told we would have a refund with 15 days. I wasn't happy with that answer so I got on a live chat with the same company. I spent 40 minutes giving this person everything that he requested so we could expedite our refund. About an hour after the live chat I checked my Simon card balance and there was still no credit to our balance from Hostgator. My husband got home and called Hostgator again at about 4:10 PM August 7. He was told that it would take 5 business days to receive our refund. He was also told by this same employee of Hostgator that it was "out of his hands" - that it was between Hostgator and PayPal.
Hostgator is has false advertising, inconsistent policies regarding their money back guarantee, and I feel that I am being lied to every time that I call.
