I recently put an item on craigslist for sale. The same day I get an email stating that this lady wants to buy it. We start talking and shes very much in a rush-She sent me the same email twice-which to me the first thing i think of is scam-'cause she forwarded the same email to me. She asked if it was still for sale and i said yes. And she emailed me this:
"I want to buy it for a friend urgently as a gift for his wedding coming soon. I would like to proceed with payment as soon as possible. My mode of payment will be via (PayPal). You can read more about it at PayPal.com
. This mode of payment is fast and Convenient. L will want you to register with PayPal to enable me to send your payment, if you have account with them, email me back with the PayPal registered email address. So i can proceed with payment immediately. Once the payment has been made and approved by PayPal., You will be notify immediately
from PayPal confirming the payment. I will like you do the shipping via USPS, additional of $120 will be added to your asking price to cover the cost of shipping. You can proceed to delete the postage from Craigslist web. If you agree with my mode of payment. I look forward to your response as soon as possible so payment can be done immediately via PayPal today."
Another part that seemes fishy was that she was practically trying to force me to use PayPal and no other method. I sort of went on about it and figured OK. I told her I can ship her item the next day and proceeded to ask her some questions - she didnt answer them so I asked her if she recieved my emails. She says this:
"I am so sorry... I have been very busy this days... I hope you will understand. I am very pleased with the price... I have just order for your payment via PayPal. I have reposed my confidence in you, and hope you will not disappoint me. I have sent your fund via (PayPal) which is $900. With additional offer of $120 that will cover the shipping fee via Registered mail making $1020. They will contact you immediately they confirm the payment. Please endeavor to email once you
receive the confirmation of payment. Kindly package the item ready for shipment also remember to ship the item via Registered Mail USPS... So, it can get to the destination on time. I want it to arrive at my friend address as soon as possible. Please. I will await your email and also Express Mail Service Tracking Number. Here is my friend address

Nigeria eh? I was selling jewelry-used. And she wanted to send this to Nigeria to her friend without looking at it first? Just seemed kinda weird, plus she is still rushing me. So i looked up my situation online and found numerous other "Nigeria Scams" using fake PayPal accounts. I will notify PayPal of this problem. I read that these people send fake emails with fake paypal accounts that show you have money but you actually dont. I feel it is a scam also and declined my offer to this "Lauren Lewis" or joe shmoe at [email protected]. I then threatened her with an email saying I believe shes scamming me and will report her to paypal and internet fraud. She stopped emailing me.
