After selling an item, I received payment through PayPal in the amount of $550. I mention the amount because I have used PayPal many times for payment, but this was the largest transaction I have had. I received the payment and began using the funds. After I had spent over $300 of the payment money, PayPal informed me that they thought the money had come from a fraudulent account.
Now I have two questions. One, I was not informed for three days that they were checking the account that I received money from. Two, I thought the reason for using PayPal was to be safe from rip-offs? I did not send the item until I received notice from PayPal that the funds were deposited into my account. Once the item was mailed, I had no way of stopping it.
Now I am out the $550 that I lost on the purchase, plus PayPal says I must pay them back the money I spent from my account! They put a hold on my account so that I cannot get my money out. I think this is their problem, not mine. They put the money in my account, so they should be responsible for the rip-off, not me! What am I paying them for? I thought it was so that I could complete sales quickly and safely. But as it turns out, it was neither! I would never use them again, and I wish I had read all the sites on the web talking about what a rip-off they are and how unprofessional they are. Whatever you do, do not use PayPal! And if you already have an account, cancel it before they take your money too!
