I am a victim of this supposed at-home employment opportunity. I was asked to accept orders for asciotech.com because they were located in the U.K. And were unable to receive the paypal funds directly.
Normally I would not have been so stupid, but I was desperate looking for a way to earn money from home to stay with my newborn. Customers supposedly were downloading software from the website, which does exist, and then the payment was sent to me. I was then supposed to send a payment, minus 10% commission and 15% fees, via Western Union to the Ukraine. I did this a few times and now owe Paypal over $200.
I have kept all emails from the "company". They were very detailed in the job description and were posted at careerbuilder.com and monster.com. I also questioned my "rep" who responded with a seemingly reasonable response. The website was functional and I searched the internet for the company name, but found nothing negative, until now (too late).
