Prospectmatch.com Aggressive sales practices Internet

I received an email from a Brady Allen from financiallead.net inviting me to find out more about generating business as a financial advisor; provided 888-358-7244 as the phone number to call for more information. What I got was brokerville.com and some very pushy, aggressive sales people. Since I've been burned before by internet leads programs, I wanted to get all my questions answered. He answered each one thoroughly once I could get him to stop talking, but seemed very annoyed that I was asking.

Their sales team is trained to walk you through the decision making process — they are very slick. At the end I told the individual I would like to think about it and asked if they could reconnect with me later in the day. He continued to push, saying he'd given me everything I needed to make a decision. I gave him the choice of reconnecting with me later in the day or walking away from me doing business with them because I was not going to make the decision in that moment, and I was immediately hung up on.

It was $179 initial start up plus $18/lead generated in the zip code areas I chose. No contract required, but you're on the hook for every lead you get before you can cancel on the 1st or 3rd Monday of the month. They acquire the leads through online internet ads where people sign up to get more information about a product — they get some kind of booklet about the topic. There is no where on the sign-up form that says they will be contacted by a financial advisor. They claim, that while they do not give legal advice, the Do Not Call registry has a loop hole that says you can call these people because they have submitted their contact information. Sounds questionable to me. They do offer to provide a half hour training on how to turn these leads into clients. Basically, it sounds like you have to mail the person something and then place a follow up call. Really skeptical about the legalities of people being on the do not call list, so I would be cautious.
