In January a call to AOL resulted in an offer from MyFamily.com to get Family Tree Maker software for $1. Before accepting I specifically asked if they would later make other charges to my account if I didn't call some 800 number. I was told No. I specifically approved only the $1 charge. I specifically said I did not want any further purchases or authorize any further charges.
A month later my card was charged $99.95 (gee, just under $100) by the company. When I called the 800 number I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes. They then denied both what I said and what I was told. They refused to refund the bogus charge.
I filed complaints with the card company and with The Internet Fraud Complaint Center at www.ifccfbi. Gov
