Bait and Switch

Priced out an XPS8300 from DELL through the Student Member Site and got a sweet config for $1390. Then priced the same exact system through the student "free" xbox promotion and was quoted $1866. $475 more for the "free" XBox 360.

For that amoiunt of money I could buy the 360 with the connect system and still come out ahead. This is a classic bait and switch scam. Everyone experiencing the same should report it to your State Attorney Generals office.

I decided to buy a cheaper computer for the minimum they would allow... $699.00 - in order to get the "free x-box". When they sent me the receipt in my e-mail it showed me that indeed I paid just over $700.00 for the computer - and then a separate charge for $250 for the x-box. They charged me for it!

Although it clearly stated on the website, "Buy select Dell PCs with Windows 7, get a free X Box 360 4GB." - indeed, it is not free. It costs over $200.00! I could buy it in the store for less money.

They pulled me in with the offer of a free x-box - but built in the price of the X-Box into the price of the computer - and had the nerve to print out on my receipt the itemized charges: the $700.00 for the computer and the $200.00 for the Xbox (plus taxes on both - am I supposed to be taxed on free items?)

Thank You, and Good Luck. Better off buying one from somewhere else. I think Microsoft knows about this scam too - obviously they partnered with Dell to offer it. They are both the scam artists.
