I wish I would have checked outank.com reputation before I signed up.
I signed up under the premise that I would have a new site built and be on the front page of google with a few months. After I signed up I was informed that my site would be setup under a NEW domain name and not my own. Then I was informed that they made a google places account for my site, problem is I already have one and I will not hand over access so they can spam keywords and cause me to lose existing business. None of this was told to me before I signed up but the kicker is still coming.
3 days after I signed up I receive an email with a brief recap of my account info BUT oddly something was put it that seemed wrong.
""Cancellation: Must provide written (email/fax) request a minimum of 30 days before your next billing.""
I thought that was odd to put that section in bold but none of my other emails said anything about it.
2 days later I sent an email asking
""If I do not give 30 days prior notice for cancellation what happens? Do you charge the next month?"
And the response was
""Yes, it is automatically deducted so there is no disruption in services.""'
Again I responded
""That is not what I asked. What happens if I cancel my service without 30 days notice?""
The response was a cut and paste from the terms of service which as you know is written by lawyers so it is as difficult as possible to understand.
I read the TOS and assumed that I would not be billed, it seemed like it was only there to stop service disruption but I did not read it right.
Fast foward to today when someone called me and wanted to know why I wanted to cancel.
My website looks like it was created in 2000 and looks horrible. It is just a 4-5 paragraph keyword stuffed single-page website. I am actually ashamed to have my logo displayed on the site.
After she told me I would be getting charged next month (that's what they think) I was really pissed and asked her about the question I had asked my account rep and she said that the rep should have been able to EASILY answer the simnple Yes/No question BUT she also told me that it was NOBODY'S fault that I was mislead about the 30 days cancellation. Not the reps fault she couldn't answer a simple question that now may cost me another $100 for absolutely nothing.
Last part. I was specifically told that the domain name was PURCHASED FOR MY COMPANY, problem is the domain name was registered 4 months before I became a customer. How is this possible??? Time travel?
It is nothing but lies and misleading information to get a quick buck. Don't be fooled by the supposed 24k customers or the fortune 500 BS the y spit at you. A real, honest and ethical company would not use this form of billing, they would not charge you for another month of service to do absolutely nothing at all.
