This company made it impossible to cancel account because they wouldn't share phone number

I too, encountered this problem of not being able to cancel my membership at DirectMatches.

The site tells you to go to customer care and call to cancel. They don't share the phone number. There is a message that says they are closed for the weekend and US holidays. This is Monday, April 5th and this day doesn't meet that criteria that I know of.

Thanks to the usacomplaints.com and the actions of its membership, I was able to call the number shared in an email that came as a response to sharing this problem on this site.

I IMMEDIATELY was called by someone claiming to be Bill Weber (the ceo of the company) and he said my account would be set to a free membership immediately.

I tried to follow the procedure on directmatches myself for downgrading my membership to free but again, I was told to call (no number given) to perform this action.

Also, the support ticket function was bogus so that couldn't be used.

I searched at the DirectMatches site and via Google search quite a bit until I found the solution listed here.

Bill told me that the reason why a number is not listed is to protect earnings that members might not know were due them before they cancel and give up their right to these earnings.

I'm not a webmaster but how hard would it be to link these two data forms (earnings due and cancellation request) to produce a path of resolution?

Obviously, some superior solution could be arrived at.

How in the world, DirectMatches is not constantly bombarded with similar requests like mine to the point that they would find another way to deal with this serious issue of making it impossible for a member like me to complete the terms of our membership agreement, is beyond me. Are people not complaining? I assume any site has a typical rate of cancellation that produces 1,000s of requests like mine.

I'm glad I got what I wanted but would like to see changes made so this unnecessary drama can be eliminated.
