Birthday present ruins birthday

Well today is April 1 and it is my son's birthday and we feel like fools.

My son, a month ago, when asked what he wanted for his birthday told us an airsoft gun and since he already has two - my wife and I felt he knew what he was doing. He gave me the website address of Airsplat.com and presented me with a piece of paper with the name of the gun. When I looked at the prices on the website, I noticed they were less than I had seen in stores and I told him it may not be a good idea to buy it online. "NO such thing as a free lunch", and "if it is too good to be true it probably is". After a couple of days and some constant bugging, I told him ok. We pay for most of our items using paypal and the website said it took it. When my son and I went to place the order - the paypal system could be used but there was a long set of directions how to use paypal as they did not take it "directly" "-should have be a hint"

I ordered from the website using my credit card which we never do. I broke my own rule. Well, the package arrived by UPS 3 days after order and I placed it in my office. My son is older so I did not open it to wrap it for his birthday. I am used to Amazon.com and thought that eveything would be ok so I did not inspect.

My son opens the box today at 12:00 noon and tells me there is a piece missing on the gun to hold the ammunition clip in the gun. The gun also was either not new or someone had handled it poorly to make a number of scratches on the gun. I told him no big deal we will call and Airsplat will take care of it. My wife spent two VERY LONG phone calls with their personnel and finally after she because so exasperated told them we wanted our money back. The dialogue was about them wanted to transfer her to the technical support team to "fix the gun" and her telling them the gun looked as if it had been used. When my wife asked for a new gun and to exchange it, they said there are no more in stock. My son went to the computer website and it claimed there were two in stock??? When she told the person on the phone they had them in stock he said. "oh ok... We need you to fill out a form."

He then told my wife that he would send it by email and a notification came on both our blackberry's that an email had been received. Then the email then disapearred.

My wife ask them to send it again... AGAIN the email came and then POOF... It disapeared. A disapearing email is not something I have ever seen before? My wife called me upset. My son was very upset. My wife wanted to call them back again and I told her I would check usacomplaints.com first to see what the status of this company was. When I seached for the company, I saw similar stories. I knew at that moment this was going to turn out bad. We both work full time and do not have countless hours to fight companies in good faith when they do not show us good faith. I told my wife, emails do not disapear unless someone is really incompetent or they want them too. I am unsure which is the case, but we will waste no more time with this company.

Our time is too valuable to fight with these people. We have a number of people in our family that use air soft type guns and we will buy no more from them.

The only other way I can feel some payback is for YOU "kind reader" not to purchase from this company.
