Complaint / Review
Alyon Technologies
Ripoff scam (censored) consumer rip-off fraud

I contacted Alyon Technologies, by phone. They told me the bill was legitimate. (I happened to end up watching a program on t.V. About usacomplaints.com. Was I ever glad to see that.) I went online and checked out Alyon Technologies, thinking that I would not find any thing.

But what I found on Alyon was a tremendous amount of reports. After the second notice from them, I e-mailed them, and told them that I refused to pay this bill. I tried the two links they gave, which just took me to their page that asks for your phone # and a password, not the rebuttal.

Here is the actual e-mail (copied and pasted) I received from them:

Thank you for your email regarding your account.in response, we would like to assure you that Alyon Technologies ("Alyon") is aware of this complaint and that Alyon has conducted an investigation of the matter.

The records indicate that the call (s) were placed from your telephone line by you or someone authorized by you to incur the charges. 1 Please let us know if you have any information to the contrary.

We sincerely hope this information is helpful to you. If you should require additional information, please do not hesitate to contact us. We can be reached at 800-510-5639.

Respectfully,

1. There exists a rebuttable legal presumption that pay per call goods or services were actually delivered to the extent that a vendor or providing carrier produces documents prepared and maintained in the ordinary course of business showing the date on, and the place to, which the goods or services were transmitted or delivered.in this case, those records exist and can be viewed online at http://www.alyon.net/customersupport/index.php.

Additional information that may be helpful to you is listed below. Thank you.

General Facts Regarding Access to Internet Services through Alyon

Alyon Technologies, Inc. Is a vendor that contracts with Internet content providers to provide customers the opportunity to access fee-based content without providing a credit card. Alyon does not provide the Internet content or the software that is used to access the Internet content through Alyon's billing gateway.

In order to access Internet content through Alyon, and thereby be billed by Alyon, a computer user must download dialer software and affirmatively accept the terms and conditions under which the Internet content is being offered. This process is designed in such a way so as to prevent connections made in error.

* If a user accesses a website that has contracted with Alyon, the user will be presented with the option to pay for access without using a credit card.
* If the user selects No Credit Card and identifies the method of connection as Modem/ISDN, the user is then presented with the terms and conditions under which the services are being offered. These terms and conditions are as follows:

Important preamble

By checking "I Agree" and then clicking "Please Enter Now", you will be connected to a pay-per-call service featuring adult content.

The provider of the pay-per-call service is Electronic Group Interactive.

Who may access this site

You must be 18 years of age or older (21 in some areas) to use this service. If you are not, click "i disagree" now!

To use this software and access the web site, you must be the telephone line subscriber or have the authorization of the telephone line subscriber to incur charges and bill the telephone line subscriber.

The telephone line subscriber will be billed $4.99 per minute for accessing this site. If you are not the telephone line subscriber or do not have authorization to bill the telephone line subscriber for charges incurred, click "i disagree."

Billing for access to this site

When you click "I AGREE" and "Please Enter Now", a dialer program will interrupt the modem connection to your usual Internet service provider. Your modem will then dial a domestic long distance number in the 201 area code and reconnect to the Internet through that long distance number. While you are accessing the web site, you may be charged a fee for the long distance service by your long distance carrier.in addition, the telephone line subscriber will be billed $4.99 per minute as an entertainment fee for access to the web site.

* Beneath the terms and conditions, two options are displayed: "I Agree" and "I Disagree". Only if the user clicks "i agree" does a "please enter now!" button appear. If the user clicks "I Disagree", an "Exit Now" button appears. If the user simply closes the window, that ends the process. This step cannot be circumvented since the "Please Enter Now!" button only appears AFTER the user clicks "I Accept".

* Upon clicking "I Accept" and then clicking "Please Enter Now!", the dialer software is offered for download to the user's computer. If the user has already downloaded the software on a prior occasion, this step is skipped.

* Once downloaded, the dialer software disconnects the user from their regular ISP, and uses the modem to dial a telephone number in New Jersey through which the user's computer is connected to the Internet content by Alyon. This telephone number is listed on the Alyon invoice and should appear on the telephone line subscriber's telephone bill.

Alyon offers three methods of contacting Customer Support with questions or concerns, Phone (800-510-5639), Email ([email protected]), and Letter (PO Box 923299; Norcross, GA 30010-3299). Alyon also provides a Customer Support website offering the following:

* Frequently Asked Questions (www.Alyon.net/cs).

* Account-Specific Connection Information (date/time/website accessed).

* An on-line method of immediately blocking one's phone number from future access through Alyon's billing gateway.
