Fraud on eBay

We thought the car was located in *Belle Mead NJ because that was the address listed on the EBay item page. We were going to pick up the vehicle and pay for in Belle Mead but were told that it was not in Belle Mead butfurther away in Philadelphia. We emailed questions regarding the vehiclecondition thru eBay messaging many times and rarely received answers back regarding the vehicle condition. The answers were usually very tersely written. The vehicle pictures showed a car in good condition inside and out. Of course he failed to take pictures of the area's of the car that had chipped paint and rust. My son was just getting his license and loved the look of the Saab's, particularly the convertibles. He saved his money for months, and I his father contributed $500.00.

Mike was hard to reach but we finally got the answers we asked of him. We asked if everything functioned as it should and we were told we would be very happy with the car and that it had no issues. We asked if the convertible top worked and he said it did, we asked if the car had any check engine lights, if the exhaust was good, tires were good, pixels on dashboard, etc. He said everything worked well and that the car ran really well.in fact we asked if the battery was good and he said he just installed a rebuilt battery and he emphasized again that everything worked really well and that it was a great running car. I knew that Saab's had issues sometimes with pixels in the lighted dashboard, and the convertibles or ragtops can have issues with the motor of the convertible top or leaks. He said that the convertible worked perfectly. He outright lied in regards to the many undisclosed issues the car had, and chose not to disclose them to all potential buyers on Ebay in the listing. This is obviously a deliberate effort to deceive an unsuspecting buyer so that he would get the maximum price on his auction while the buyer is misled.in the heading of the listing he said "runs drives good".

Upon discovering that the car was in Philadelphia and in order to pick up & pay for the car we agreed with Mike that we would meet half way in Hoboken N. J at the train station. He said he would be staying at his mother-in-laws over the weekend and would drive up with the car and meet us late Sunday evening Sept 20th with the car. He didn't call us and when we finally reached him he said he left earlier then expected. He said he would absorb some of the shipping and it would only be $100.00 to ship the car. So we direct deposited a total of $1,929.89 into his Bank of America account as per Mike's request on Sept. 21st. On Sept. 23rd we received a package which contained a bill of sale, odometer disclosure statement, buyers guide, and a power of attorney to be notarized which he said he didn't need. He said he needed a copy of my wife drivers license (we put the car in my wife's name) and an insurance card. We overnighted the documents back to him. We never received the title and asked him about it on several occasions and he said he would overnight them to us as soon as we received the car. We have still never received the title.

After repeated delays and numerous phone calls the car was finally delivered around 11pm on Wednesday October 7th. I was not home when the car was delivered but the car had to be jump started. The car would not remain started, we smelled fumes and noticed multiple issues including engine lights. We went to get gas the car was completely empty. The fumes were due to a gas can in the back seat of the car. What a disappointment! We got the car to the mechanic the next morning. The car had so many issues that it is a total gross misrepresentation of the car. Multiple exhaust leaks, bad battery, broken convertible top, inoperable stereo, 4 bad tires, etc, etc. The trunk was trashed and it appears that someone tried fixing the top. The car does not run or run well as described verbally or in the listing. Not what I would describe as a "perfect car for vacation", as stated in the listing. I tried notifying him via eBay (ask the seller), text messaging, and left him voice mail messages of the many issues that he so shrewdly disguised. All attempts to contact him have been unanswered. Please remedy the situation for my son and I. We desperately need to get a functional car and need the money returned to do so. This was clearly an attempt to sell via a most flagrant form of fraud and deception. If you need any further documentation I will be happy to provide it to you. I forwarded an estimate of the required repairs to 408-904-7387 on 10/8.
